Handy ICT Links From My Week In School

Having just completed the first serial days on school placement, I am now more aware of how ICT is intergrated into the classroom.

The ICT lesson itself that I took part in involved the children using THIS site in order to improve their typing skills. My role here was to insure that their fingers are placed on the right keys, therefore typing correctly.

Also, having sat down with my class teacher to go through the plan for the group sessions I was planning and carrying out for one of our directed activities, I asked the ICT box and whether it needs filling in if I am not using the computer, or IWB in the lesson. She then pointed out to me that I may well use ICT for creating resources, which didn't even cross my mind! Therefore, I now know that the ICT box on the planning forms are nearly always completed.

I used resources for these lessons from THIS website, which I found most useful for the use of worksheets and which is used by my class teacher also.

Thank you.

Remember that we need to look at ICT in two ways when doing our tick box thing.

ICT as a teaching tool (includes prep and admin by teacher, use of IWB)

ICT as a learning tool, when the children are using ict as a writing, creative, problem solving, investigatory and research tool. This, to me, is far more important.
